The crime branch of Nagpur police made significant progress by apprehending thieves and burglars, successfully solving a total of nine cases through two operations. This crackdown has provided relief to the citizens who were increasingly concerned about rising incidents of vehicle thefts and burglaries in the city. During the first operation, two burglars were captured, leading to the resolution of seven cases. One notable case involved the theft of cash and valuables amounting to Rs6.54 lakh from Mukesh Nipani's residence in Vaishali Nagar. Following a thorough investigation, the police identified and arrested the suspects, Ramakant alias Rambhau Shahu (27) and Narendra alias Bali Bokde (23), who confessed to their involvement in multiple burglaries and vehicle thefts. Stolen items and three vehicles, with a total value of Rs9.53 lakh, were recovered. It was revealed that the accused individuals were substance abusers and engaged in criminal activities to sustain their addictions. Additionally, Ramakant is wanted in connection with two burglary cases at Kalamna police station. In a separate incident, crime branch unit 5 apprehended three culprits and resolved two cases of vehicle thefts after investigating a reported bike theft at Jaripatka police station. The accused individuals, Akash Nagrale (27), Yogesh Chavhan (25), and Devendra Thakre (24), were captured with the help of CCTV footage and intelligence gathered on the ground.Two stolen vehicles have been recovered, along with the bike used in the crime, with a total value of Rs1.20 lakh. The majority of vehicle thefts are reported in busy or market areas of the city. Burglaries primarily take place on the outskirts of the city, falling under the jurisdiction of police stations such as Hudkeshwar, Wathoda, Pratap Nagar, and others. Locals have requested an increase in night patrolling by the police to prevent such incidents. The police have advised residents to notify their neighbors and respective police stations if they plan to leave the city, allowing for a watchful eye to be kept on their homes.
